Steven Swain is the Environmental Horticulture Advisor for Marin and Sonoma counties. He got his start in commercial arboriculture working with Lewis Tree Service in Santa Cruz. After graduate school, he worked in Sonoma County as the Sudden Oak Death Project Coordinator, before moving on to research composting as a means of eradicating Phytophthora ramorum from infected greenwaste at UC Berkeley.

The Environmental Horticulture Program promotes sound plant health care in our urbanized county, with an emphasis on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles. Clientele include landscape architects, landscape contractors, tree services, urban foresters and public park/watershed agency staff.
