The Sierra Foothill REC is in a mediterranen climate characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Annual precipitation ranges from 9 to 52 inches with a mean of 28 inches, occurring almost exclusively as rainfall, and mostly through October through May. Mean monthly minimum air temperatures are typically in the high 30° F and low 40° F during November through March, while mean maximum air temperatures are around 90° F during July and August. The recorded extremes are 14° F and 109° F. The Sierra Foothill REC maintains climatic data from 1962 to present.
