New Research Project Proposal
Proposals for short- and long-term projects will be considered. Requirements for labor and other resources for long-term projects will be reviewed annually. Areas of focus for research and extension education include:
- Management strategies for optimizing sustainable economic returns from the foothill range/livestock/ forage system.
- The role of livestock in ecosystem management.
- Effects of changing land use on the urban/rural/wildland interface.
- Management strategies for restoration of rangelands (including woodlands).
- The maintenance of water quality and watershed stability.
- Management and conservation of riparian zones and wetlands.
- Development of profitable livestock production strategies.
- Management of hardwood rangelands to optimize wildlife habitat.
- Study of structure and function of grass-oak woodland ecosystems.
- Ecology and management of anadromous fish habitat (Yuba River).
Researchers are encouraged to personally present new proposals at the Research Advisory Committee meeting.
