Plant Clinics are held at all Workshops. Bring your plant samples, pest mysteries and questions. We'll help!
Open Garden Days are the ideal time to walk through at your own pace. Bring your list of gardening questions and get one-on-one advice.

January 21 |
Workshop Learn about winter fruit tree maintenance with emphasis on pruning concepts and using the least toxic methods to counter fruit tree insect pests and diseases. Watch how to spur prune and cane prune grape vines. Learn the correct procedures for pruning blueberries. |

February 25 |
Open Garden Wander the gardens, ask questions. Watch Master Gardeners groom ornamental grasses, prune shrubs, start a compost pile, set up a worm composting bin, and finish pruning dormant fruit trees. |

March 24 |
Workshop Attend in-depth vegetable gardening sessions: the basics and beyond. Learn to select water efficient plants for your landscape conditions and then prepare a shopping list for spring plant sales. Control the top three fruit tree pests—codling moth, fire blight, and spotted wing drosophila, the new cherry tree pest. Evaluate and improve your irrigation. |

Open Garden A midweek chance to ask questions. Visit the new vegetable garden raised beds. Watch Master Gardeners thinning grapes. View the lovely spring bloom display in the Water Efficient Landscape gardens. |

Workshop Discover University of California resources available to help you prevent and treat your garden pests. Comprehensive vegetable gardening sessions with tips for growing the best crops. Open Garden Watch Master Gardeners demonstrate summer fruit tree pruning and T-bud grafting. Also learn about using herbs as a lawn alternative and summer care for grape vines. See summer-blooming water efficient plants. Ask questions. |

HARVEST DAY 2012 Sacramento’s biggest one-day gardening event. Featured speakers, demonstrations, educational booths, open gardens, produce tastings, a plant clinic and more. Bring your questions and enjoy! |

Workshop Learn herb pruning techniques and all about composting with worms. Irrigation tools: focusing on meters, controllers, low volume systems, and scheduling. Learn why mulching your garden is important. |

Open Garden A midweek opportunity to see fall-blooming plants, planting bulbs for spring blooms, and hardy succulents for our area. Other activities include frost protection strategies for citrus trees, the benefits of composting, and how growing cover crops can enrich your garden soil. |
