How to Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved with the Youth Commission and help to create positive change in the community:
Applications for the 2012-2013 term will be available in the spring of 2012. Click here for more information.
Youth who are 14 to 21 years of age (or in the 9th grade) and reside in Placer County are eligible for appointment. The term length is one year (July 1 - June 30) and youth may serve for a maximum of four terms.

The Placer County Youth Commissioners have three standing committees:
- Health and Well-being: Mental health, physical health and social well-being.
- Youth Futures: Education, employment, skill building, job training, opportunities.
- Vital Communities: Transportation, justice, arts and cultures, recreation, environmental conservation and sustainability, citizenship, community planning, personal relations, safety, etc.
Each term Commissioners create subcommittees to focus on issues they would like to impact. Members of subcommittees research, analyze, set recommendations and/or develop projects that create change. Subcommittees are open to all youth in Placer County. Members are appointed by the Youth Commission. You may join a subcommittee at anytime throughout the year.

Become an Ambassador
Ambassadors represent an interest area, organization, youth group, school or school group, or other segment of the population. They serve as the official connection between the Commission and the group or interest area they represent. Ambassadors inform the Commission of their group's happenings, activities, concerns, issue etc or those pertaining to their interest area; relay information from the Commission to their group; participate in Commission events, activities, and projects; and work with the Commission to create positive change in the community.
Ambassador positions are open to youth (6th grade to age 21) who reside in Placer County. The term length is one year (October - June) and may be reappointed each year.
