Is Funding from a Federal Agency?
Most applications for federal funding must be submitted via Grants.gov, whereas applications for non-federal funding come directly from the sponsoring agency. See instructions below.

Submit Proposal to Office of Contracts & Grants using the Grant Tracking System
University policy requires that proposals for extramural awards be submitted through an authorized UC contracts and grants office. At ANR, this is the Office of Contracts and Grants.Proposals must be submitted using the ANR Grant Tracking system at least 5 days prior to the award application deadline to allow for processing.

Submit Proposal to the Sponsor
Federal
Once approved by the OCG, the OCG typically submits federal proposals to the federal agency directly.
Non-Federal
Upon approval from OCG, the PI submits the proposal directly to the funding sponsor. If the sponsor requires an “authorized official” or “institutional approval”, OCG will either sign and submit the proposal to the sponsor, or provide the signed pages or letter to the PI to include with PI’s submission OCG will typically grant permission for the PI to submit the proposal directly to the sponsor after the OCG has completed and approved the proposal.
