Welcome to Nevada County 4-H

Since the early 1920's, Nevada County 4-H has provided youth with hands-on learning opportunities that help them enhance life skills such as public speaking, leadership, and citizenship. Today, 175 adult volunteers are working with over 480 youth members on projects that include Clothing and Textiles, Rocketry, Computer Technology, Public Speaking, Animal Science, and Community Pride.

Through innovative, hands-on learning experiences, youth develop citizenship, leadership and life skills. In this way 4-H continues to make a difference in individual children's lives, just as it has done across the nation over the past century.

4-H offers limitless opportunities for friendship, growth, fun, and development. By engaging youth and adults in meaningful partnerships, 4-H helps young people to reach their full potential as competent, confident, leaders of character who contribute and are connected to their communities.

4-H Youth Enrollment

Youth Age requirements:

Children who are 5 years old or attending K through 3rd grade by December 31st of the program year are eligible to participate as a Primary 4-H member. There are conditions on projects and activities.

Regular 4-H members must be 9 years old or in the 4th grade by December 31st of the program year and have not reached the age of 19 years old by December 31st of that program year. Please note there are various membership types within this age range (junior, intermediate, and senior) and some activities and opportunities are only available to certain membership types to ensure that the program is developmentally appropriate.

Please Note: For home schooled children, the age criteria only will apply.
