-Protect soil from compaction. Compacted soil restricts root and plant growth and prevents proper movement of air and water into the soil. Use pathways to navigate your garden to avoid compaction in planting areas.

-Mulch planting beds to help retain soil moisture, moderate soil temperature, alleviate compaction, and smother weeds.
