Each Spring children of all ages are invited to Kids Garden Day, a free event held at the Garden of the Sun in May.
Past events have featured fun and educational hands-on activities for children including composting, vermicomposting and Botany On Your Plate. The Master Gardeners invite local beekeepers to provide educational demonstrations on bees and explain the pollination process. A display of reptiles and birds of prey and how they impact backyards is also part of the program, as well as a bug/insect display and related activities. Fun for children of all ages includes a seed planting activity, making a toad house to take home, and a tree leaf art/craft activity. A focus on nutrition features a citrus variety display and a hands-on citrus juicing activity.
Come and go as you like during the event hours. Large youth groups are welcome with supervision.
