I just read an online articil called "Produce from urban gardens could contain lead" which talks about contaminated soil in urban barckyards and the risks of growing vegetables in such soil. The author recommends testing the soil for contamination and that most states offer low-cost soil testing through their agricultural cooperative extensions. How can I find out about getting my soil tested ? I live a little too close to the railroad yard and the local paper recently printed a warning regarding inhalation of fumes coming from this environment and their cancer causing elements.
