Sponored by UC Hansen Hansen Agricultural Center and in collaboration with UC Cooperative Extension 4H Program, Victory Gardens Then & Now is the product of the Agriculture Journalism Club at Cabrillo Middle School in Ventura. This afterschool club, comprised of twelve 6th, 7th, 8th graders, met consecutive Friday afternoons from January to May 2009.
This project sought to strengthen the connection of youth to the food they eat by teaching them:
- Gardening basics
- Importance of local food systems
- History of Victory Gardens
- Nutrition
