FARM SMART

The mission of the FARM SMART Program is to educate people of all ages about natural and renewable natural resources including agriculture so they can be conserved, managed and available for future generations.
Mission and goals are met by conducting field days at the University of California Desert Research and Extension Center. Audiences included elementary, middle school and high school students, community groups, an ag-futures career day for high school students and winter visitor groups.
FUNDING AND SUPPORT:
The Imperial Irrigation District profides $50,000.00 annually in support of the FARM SMART Program. Many other local groups and individuals donate money, seeds, door prizes and volunteer their time for various programs.
Program fees help make up the difference in funding these programs. This year students were charged $3.00/per program and Winter visitors were charged $13.00/per person.
