Pleasant Hill, CA (April 29, 2013): We're pleased to announce the availability of orientation sessions for the 2013-14 Contra Costa Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program. If you are passionate about gardening and want to help others through educational outreach, consider becoming a Contra Costa Master Gardener. Please visit our Join Us page for more information.

In other news, with the addition of Point Richmond, our Ask a Master Gardener teams are now at 10 (ten!) local Farmers' Markets this year, which started March 30 in Brentwood. Our teams are busy helping all County residents achieve beautiful and productive gardens in 2013. See all calendar entries for the Farmers' Markets, and visit your local Farmers' Market soon!

The 2013 slate of Our Garden programs continues, with weekly presentations and gardening help tables from now through October. Please see the calendar entries for details.

Spotlight on Our Garden

The Story of Our Garden.

In Spring 2009, Contra Costa Master Gardeners joined with the Contra Costa Times to begin the Our Garden project. Our Garden has been an ongoing collaborative edible garden managed by dedicated volunteers and supported by generous sponsors, a focal point for Master Gardener educational activities. Short demonstrations and classes taught every Wednesday from April through October offer the public a free and open venue for up close and personal learning about the process of growing one's own food. All food produced by Our Garden is donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties.
