Contra Costa Master Gardeners In the Community

Pleasant Hill, CA (May 23, 2012):  Announcing the Contra Costa Master Gardener 2012-2013 Volunteer Training Program, to be held October 2012 through March 2013.  If you're interested in volunteering to serve your community, please see our Join Us page for more information.   

Our Garden Help Table hours have been changed to 9:30-11:30 AM every Wednesday through October 24, 2012.  Speakers will still be from 10:00-11:00 AM.  Progress continues on "Our Garden Redux", but meanwhile, events continue to occur at the original location adjacent to the the Contra Costa Times parking lot.

The Contra Costa Master Gardeners would like to remind you to garden sustainably and treat the earth (literally) with kindness.  Without the living soil beneath our feet, we would not be here.  Read more...  

Between now and November, you'll be able to find your Contra Costa Master Gardeners at dozens of separate events throughout Contra Costa County, including.

• Talks at several county public libraries (request talks at your local library through your librarian, or call our Help Desk).
• Talks & onsite help tables at Our Garden.
• Talks & onsite help tables at the LMCHD Community Garden.
• Onsite help tables at several Farmers' Markets. 
• ...and more...!

Spotlight on Our Garden

The Story of Our Garden.

In Spring 2009, Contra Costa Master Gardeners joined with the Contra Costa Times to begin the Our Garden project.  Our Garden is an ongoing collaborative edible garden managed by dedicated volunteers and supported by generous sponsors.  Adjacent to the Contra Costa Times parking lot in Walnut Creek, it is a focal point for Master Gardener educational activities.  Short demonstrations and classes are taught every Wednesday from April through October, offering the public a free and open venue for up close and personal learning about the process of growing one's own food.  All food produced by Our Garden is donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties.
