Objective 1b: Local Bloom-casts

Even the most accurate model is useless if it’s just sitting in a scientific journal. One of the ultimate goals of the model is to enable growers to increase their management efficiency by knowing when their trees will bloom and leaf-out. By summer 2011, growers will be able to come to this site to track the progress towards bloom and leaf-out in their area. Similar to the current chill accumulation interfaces (see figure), growers will be able to click on the CIMIS station nearest to them to find the portion of dormancy that has been completed, and based on that, when their trees are predicted to bloom. Our model will be accessible to growers in a set-up similar to the current FNRIC chill calculators. How You Can Help!
