Cal-OSHA's permanent heat illness regulation became effective July 27, 2006. The regulation, which is in Title 8: section 3395 of the General Industry Safety Orders, requires employers to provide water and shade to outdoor workers and training for these workers and their supervisors on the symptoms and treatment of heat illness.
