WAEMAP Workshops
WAEMAP workshops provide a short and basic introduction to zebra and quagga mussels and their impacts to the water industry and users in California.
Our main focus, however, is to help participants understand, assess, and address mussel infestation risks in your facility. Utilizing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) planning methodology and a hands-on interactive learning approach, we will jointly discuss and develop insight into how Eurasian mussels may enter or be transferred within your and other systems, and consider strategies to mitigate these threats. HACCP is a planning approach that has been utilized successfully for different environmental and safety issues and in a variety of industrial settings and is highly effective when properly applied.
Here is a sample agenda from a WAEMAP workshop. Between December 2011 and April 2012, we are hosting 6 workshops in north and central California.
