University of California
California Naturalist
Sagehen Creek Truckee
California Naturalist training will introduce you to the wonders of our unique ecology and engage you in the stewardship of California’s natural communities. The course will utilize a combination of science curriculum, guest lecturers, field trips and project-based learning to immerse you in the natural world of the Central Sierra.
Through the course, participants will develop their ability to observe nature and will learn tools to improve these skills. In addition, participants will improve their communication skills by sharing knowledge with other participants and by working on a capstone project.
This summer, UC Berkeley's Sagehen Creek Field Station offers two CA Naturalist course formats including a new intensive program! The regular course runs 10-weeks on Friday evenings and over three Saturday field trips. The intensive course is a 1-week in-residence program covering the same material.
Both certification courses will be held at the UC Berkeley Sagehen Creek Field Station. Volunteer hours are required to be certified through this sponsor. Continuing Education credits are available for an additional fee.
