Camp Sylvester, Speared in the Heart (the Kitchen) by
One of Its Own (fir tree that is).
The tree actually snapped off in the high winds Tuesday night / Wednesday morning of December 26-27, 2006. The kitchen suffered the most damage and will have to be completely rebuilt. There was no damage to the ovens or cooking utensils. Even our new ice machine donated by Hi 4-H was untouched. There was extensive damage to the mess hall also. Four of the main trusses were broken and a hole aproximately 5' x 20' in the roof had to be boarded over and tarped to be ready for the next storm.
Visit the Camp Sylvester's Website for more information about the camp and a map to Pinecrest.
