Ongoing Studies:
It is our ongoing effort to research and introduce new and specialty crops to California. One of the crops we are studying is guava. Production practices have been under study for this crop. Future projects will include estimates of costs of production.

The Coachella Valley is the primary date-growing region in the United States, responsible for nearly 95 percent of the nation's crop with a total date palm planted acreage of 6160 acres. Currently we are preparing to conduct cost of production and marketing studies for date palm production in the region.

A sample cost to establish a mandarin orchard and produce mandarin in Ventura County, Southern California is available. Click here to retrieve the cost study.
