Sierra 4-H Trail Trials
May 4, 2013
9:00 a.m. registration, trail trial begins at 9:30 a.m.
Bert C. Weldon Memorial Farm at SierraHigh School
33326 Lodge Rd., Tollhouse, CA93667
$20.00 for pre registration(postmarked by 4/29/13) or $25.00 for registration at the event.
Come and enjoy the beautiful Sierra Foothills and test your obstacle skills. Riders will follow a trail course and be judged on how well they and their horse negotiate various obstacles. After the trail course, riders will be served a hotdog lunch. Lunch and snacks will also be available for purchase. One lunch ticket is included in the price of registration. Awards ceremony will follow. This is a club sponsored event, not a qualifying horse show. Class placing will be first-sixth place. A high-point prize will be awarded to each of the four classes: 1st yr., Jr., Sen., and Adult. Also this year you may choose a one hour guided trail ride. Cost for the trail ride is $10.00 and includes lunch. You must be a 4-H member/leader in good standing to participate in this event!
No dogs will be allowed.
Attire: 4-H uniform does not need to be worn, but proper horse attire must be worn (riding boots, an approved riding helmet, and jeans).
No training aids, such as martingales and tie downs, will be allowed, although any bit will be acceptable.
The rider gets up to 3 attempts at each obstacle. There is a 3 minute time limit on each obstacle. No one is allowed to help a rider until after the 3rd attempt. This is a competitive event, not a schooling show; any help will constitute a zero on that obstacle. Please, no coaching from the sidelines. Rider must approach obstacle alone. All other riders/adults must wait at the instruction sign until it is their turn to approach obstacle. Any deviation from this rule will result in a zero on that obstacle.
If you or your horse are going to go through the course a second time these rules apply to you:
Same rider/ different horse (as time allows) - not eligible for awards, $10, no lunch ticket
Same rider/ same horse (as time allows) - non- judged, $10, no lunch ticket
Different rider/ same horse (up to 2 riders/horse) - judged, $20(pre registration) or $25(registration at the event), includes a lunch ticket
The event will follow the rules for the FresnoCounty 4-H Horse Project. Each club participating must designate a 4-H leader to be present at the event. Any protests must be brought by the leader present, directly to the event managers. All decisions of the event managers will be final. No one can approach the judges with comments or problems.
The event will be held rain or shine. If you have any questions contact Jodi Jordan at 855-4145 or by e-mail: jodi_jordan@yahoo.com.
