The number one question I have received about the photo contest so far is, "Are there prizes?"
Yes- absolutely there are prizes!
Are the prizes valuable? Well- that depends on the quality of your pictures. But really, we promise that the winners will get prizes above and beyond the honor of winning the contest.
This guy is happy about winning a silly hockey game. Imagine how happy you would be winning the ANR Photo Contest.

Send in your pictures!
- Go to your ANR Portal ( http://ucanr.org/portal )
- Click the 'ANR Repository' link (either in the center column, or in 'MyLinks')
- Once in the Repository, click the 'Add Files' link in the upper grey section.
If you have not yet added a document into the Repository, you will need to accept the Terms of Use. There are 4 checkboxes on the page.
Once you are in the 'Add Files' section, you can upload a new file by supplying a name for your photo, and finding it on your computer with the 'Browse' button.
You have now uploaded your picture, but there are 2 more very important steps!
- In the tan field, please make sure to click the box signaling your intention to enter your picture into the ANR Photo Contest.
- Click 'Save and Return' at the bottom of the page.
You can also view the other pictures that have been entered into the contest. To see all of them, sign into your Portal first, then go to: http://ucanr.org/repository/colview.cfm?col=1016
Thank you, and good luck to all who enter!

Photo contest for ANR staff and academics
One benefit of working in UC Cooperative Extension and UC ANR is the unique perspective it gives of the great state of California. UC ANR staff and academics see sweeping views of California’s natural resources, beautiful farming landscapes, the delighted faces of the people we help, the alien-like details of insects, and the colorful fruit, vegetable and fiber crops that are produced by clientele.
Here’s a chance to share those experiences and be recognized for your photographic skill. Communications Services is sponsoring a photo contest to give staff and academics a showcase for their work-related artwork. The best submissions will be rewarded with affirmation from peers and will be published on the Web.
In keeping with the ANR’s Strategic Vision 2025, each photo should be submitted in one of the nine categories that were identified by the Vision’s authors as areas where ANR can play a role in improving California’s future:
- Sustainable, nutritious, safe food
- Clean, healthy, sustainable places to live, work and grow
- Resilient, biologically diverse, healthy ecosystems
- Clean, secure, sufficient water
- Cleaner, more secure energy
- Educated, engaged, resilient people
- Leaders prepared for and capable of making strategic decisions
- Innovative solutions and informed choices
- Economic opportunity and jobs
Each individual may submit as many quality photos as desired. If there are recognizable people in the photo, make sure to obtain for your files a signed photo release form. Photo specifications, details on submitting the photos and contest updates may be found at http://ucanr.org/blogs/photocontest. The submission deadline is Oct. 30. All photos submitted to the contest become part of the ANR photo repository and may be used to promote ANR on Web pages, in newsletters, blogs, brochures and other outlets.
