Gareth, FYI. In the latest issue of "Conservation Magazine" (July-Sept 2010) a review of the work of Johannes Lehmann of Cornell can be found. It outlines his work proposing the values of bio-char. The article is well balanced and offers the reader a pro and con view of the subject. I'm sure when you come to Mendocino County you will be asked about this new (old) technology of C sequestering using the soil as a receptor.
