We all need and want to keep up with the issues/trends/policies impacting agriculture, in Caliornia, and nationally. But who has time to read more?
There are a couple of free services that provide snippets of information...enough to keep you abreast without sinking you.
For California ag news, I subscribe to the California Farm Bureau Federation's daily news service:
We are excellence in action. In a time of diminishing resources, it's easy to look at the glass as being half-full. Often, we forget to turn to one of the best resource bases we have: ourselves, not as individuals, but as a collection of professionals with decades of experience.
Now is not the time to re-invent the wheel, but rather, to recycle and reuse the great work our colleagues are doing. This blog is the place to come post a question, to offer a suggestion, whether a link to a "must read" book, or a query about a way to handle the challenges that are a part of our daily lives. Think of this as an old-fashioned bulletin board: the kind you might have seen in your dorm lobby in college, or at the local coffee shop.
How to use this blog:
1. Sign up to receive notification when a new post is added.
2. If you have a suggested posting, email it to rmhaydensmith@ucdavis.edu. It will magically appear on the blog, within 24 hours (unless I'm unwired, which hasn't happened in 26 years).
3. Seed this...get in the practice of using it, and offering things of your own.
